"A chromey and stylish shop front leads into the functional restaurant. You’ll find both Spanish and regular mackerel here. The former has a ponzu sauce while the latter is enhanced with kombu. These kinds of combos show the creativity given over to the flavors at this venue. The thought that’s been put in. And the sauces are home made, by the way. With fish that’s firm where it matters and tender where needs be, the sashimi and nigiri on offer here are to the highest standard. Eating at the bar ensures that you see what you’re in for. Rather shellfish heavy here too, which is a nice touch and unusual for a Japanese restaurant in the West. In fairness, you may actually get some shellfish, such as tempura in batter or crumbs, in less authentic places. Just not done like this."
