Aziatix members: Flowsik, Eddie Shin and Nicky Lee

The music group Aziatix has exploded onto the global scene with a list of impressive accolades. Having their first American live showcase debuting in New York, the group is poised to storm onto the US music scene. Comprising of three talented members, Eddie Shin, Flowsik and Nicky Lee, each with their own varying levels of experience and success in the industry, they write and produce their own songs and are very familiar with the music business.

Upon the start of their YouTube channel, Aziatix became the #1 most subscribed to Musician channel during its initial launch with over 8,500 subscribers. The group has also been featured on CNNGO, Ballerstatus and HipHopDX as well as peaking at #1 on Blastro R&B and pop charts. Brought together by veteran multi platinum music producer Jae Chong, Aziatix has had over 20 international articles, media and press interviews within a month of their debut. In less than 100 days of launching their facebook page, the group attained almost 16,000 "Likes" with a true international fan base. There are currently over 10 official facebook fan pages encompassing Chile, Australia, Singapore Japan and Korea as well as many more.

We sat down for an interview with all of the members of Aziatix:

Rapper "Flowsik" - Born and raised in Queens, NY, Flowsik is no stranger in the local underground hip-hop scene. His talents are recognized by many in the circle including hip-hop pioneer Ice-T whom he recorded the song "Hate" together with. Flowsik started composing when he was 15 and has always looked up to some of the greatest in rap music like Tupac to search for inspiration.

Eddie Shin - Born in Boston, MA, Eddie's family moved to Korea when he was 10 years old. Most of his writing style is based on R&B, mixing it up with his unique experiences performing in Asia. Eddie has been writing songs since the age of 16. He made his debut in Korea with his self produced album, "Just My Way," which became a hit in the local Korean music scene in 2005.

Nicky Lee - Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Nicky is recognized as an accomplished R&B/Soul Mandarin male vocalist with five solo albums released. After years in the Asian music industry, Nicky earned the title of "Best Male Artist" at the Golden Melody Awards in 2007, in the Mandarin speaking market of billions. His songs have been used in the movie "Forbidden Kingdom" that starred international actors Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Nicky is also developing his acting career and appeared in the movie "Mulan."

Jae Chong - producer of the group, also born and raised in Los Angeles, hit stardom early in his life joining the R&B group, "Solid," selling over three million albums and staking claim to be the first Korean R&B group to ever sell over 1 million albums. Since "Solid," Jae has been producing hit after hit, album after album (with over 20 million sold), TV and film score after another, penning his music and beats all througout Asia. Jae has been nominated for Best Producer of the Year at Asia's Golden Melody Awards, spanning an international market size of over four times the Grammys.

1.   You've each had tremendous success as solo artists and now even more success as a group. How did you develop the chemistry to make that transition?

Because each of us has our own music style, we were able to blend all three together to form a unique sound. Nicky's R&B/Soul sound, Flowsik's hip-hop sound along with Eddie's R&B/Pop sound formulated into something great, thus creating Aziatix.

2.   How has growing up in New York and Los Angeles contributed to your music's influence and Azatix's ability to crossover here in the US?

We grew up listening to both Korean and Western music. We are very familiar with both sides, which is one of the main reasons why we were able to blend them together. People in Asia say that our music has a Western feel, while people in the States say that our music has an Asian feel, which explains the specific sound that we have.

3.   Anyone you're dying to work with?

Honestly, we want to work with many artists who are focused on making good music. Our dream is to work with many successful artists in the States. But generally, whether they're artists such as Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, etc., we want to work with whoever enjoys making wonderful music!

4.   Among your international appeal, Aziatix has been to many different places. What are your five favorite restaurants around the world?

In Korea

Bobby Box: They serve a variety of meal sets packaged in a lunch box which also includes many side foods. The Spam box is delicious!

Sae Ma Eul Sik Dang: Specializes in spicy pork BBQ served with many side vegetables and rice mixed with chili-like sauce. Absolutely epic.

In Taiwan

Ari: A restaurant that serves Korean style soft tofu stew. Some say they are better than the ones in Korea!

In New York

5 Guys: Juicy burgers with many assorted toppings, served with delicious home-made fries.

In LA

The Hat: Delicious pastrami sandwiches with chili fries.

5.   Can you tell us about your newest album, Nocturnal?

Our second E.P. was set for release on July 28th. It has a total of six tracks:

The first track ,"Intro" is an instrumental, which gives the feeling of lying on a cloud.

The second track and the title song "Slippin' Away" is a Pop/R&B track with an ethereal, "out of this world" vibe. It features a ballad style melody over a very danceable urban beat, mixing the mournful voices of Eddie Shin and Nicky Lee with controlled emotion of Flowsik's rap. The song is about a girl who has already made up her mind to leave a guy who makes a desperate plea to have her listen to him just one last time to change her mind. The music video for this song was directed by Oh Min from "MINIsTree," best known for his music video works with Shin Seunghoon and K-Will.

"Superstar" is a rap song by Flowsik featuring sophisticated vocals from Nicky Lee. It's a radio friendly song about taking a girl out on the town and showing her the good life. The lyrics describe the glitzy night out in LA and NY and later wanting to escape togther to a place more private and intimate. It's a feel-good song that will make everyone want to go out and enjoy the city life no matter where they live.

"A Game" is a song that encourages people to become the best they can be at whatever they do. It's about being the "top notch" player on your team. It features a very club-friendly beat with infectious groove and melody lines. For us, the "A" in "A Game" also means "AZIATIX."

"Be With U" is a straight electro/house song for the clubs. It features an addictive melody line that is both Eastern and Western at the same time. This song may have the most "K-Pop" feel out of the entire album. The lyrics is about wanting to be with the one you love constantly and how she is addictive like the melody that is stuck in our heads from a catchy song.

"Say Yeah" is another "feel good" electro/house banger. The lyrics talk about the nightlife at the clubs. It's a song that will get everyone up and dancing. The hook tells people to "Say Yeah!" and jump round if they're feeling the song.

6.   You had an album release concert on August 13th at the Key Club in Hollywood. Where you guys excited?
We had a very successful turn out at our concert in the Key Club. Fans of all ages and ethnicities attended and showed us their love. We also had a "Meet and Greet" session after our performance where we signed CD's, posters, and took pictures with our fans. It was an opportunity for us to meet our fans face to face to show our appreciation.

7.   What do you think about Privy or the promise it offers?

All the services that Privy provides are so useful. Especially because we are able to access the Privy application through our iPhones which we all use.

8.   What's next for Aziatix and where will you guys be performing in your US tour?
