Celebrating the advent of the New Year is nothing if not sentimental in the extreme. The echoes of the past year vie for just as much attention as the hopes and dreams of the new, and 2011 was indeed a very blessed year for everyone at Privy, with numerous and quite memorable events to ponder with a great deal of nostalgia. It was with great pleasure and joyous anticipation that we were fortunate enough to begin honoring the upcoming year with so many wonderful members and guests.

While Lady Gaga launched the dropping of the ball in New York’s Times Square, and other celebrities were partying like rock stars in Sin City, we decided to hold Privy’s New Year’s Eve festivities in Los Angeles, in the entertainment capital of the world – Hollywood.

Privy Interviews Right to Succeed's Lina So

From a young age, Lina So believed in her right to succeed. She started her own website in 1997 and subsequently took the reins in achieving her goal of becoming an entertainer. But, even with her success, Lina remains philanthropic and influential, doing everything she can to get the word out to support her education reform foundation “Right to Succeed.” She is the Co-Founder of The Right to Succeed Foundation - a non profit organization that provides the tools and resources for education reform, leadership, and mentorship for every child to succeed. Their mission is to help each community cut their drop out rate in half over the next 5 years by creating and transforming 30,000 schools across the country.

Lina So is also a Host and Entertainment Entrepreneur, and has had the opportunity to witness the struggles and devastating circumstances of children through her travels. With her diverse background she has a versatile network that is valuable in connecting education and media to raise awareness. Her purpose is to mobilize and provide the leadership tools to push the youth to reach their full potential. She believes this platform can make a difference to change the future of the nation by investing in the next generation through leadership, mentorship, and education reform. Her entrepreneurial spirit, as business owner and consultant, has given her influence in the community, entertainment, and philanthropy. Lina is a member of the National Association of Women MBA, Screen Actors Guild, Asian American Journalist Association, International Lions Club and actively participates in the Revlon Walk, Reading to Kids, and Working Wardrobes.

We sat down with Lina to discuss her foundation and help spread the word as well as talk about her achievements, and much, much more. Also, be sure to visit www.RighttoSucceed.org to support the foundation.
