This Kosher soup and sandwich shop is classic NY, old deli nostalgia at its best, and recently reopened in a quiet side street, sans the walk of Yiddish stars on the pavement in front. Fortunately it is as good as, if not better than its namesake even without the Molly Picon Room. Eat crisp curls of gribenes with the innocence of days gone by when cholesterol and calories didn’t count and loosen your belt, one notch down. At 2nd Ave Deli you'll find classic dishes of adult chopped liver, peppery pastrami, spunky salami, tantalizing tongue, Russian dressing and coleslaw, schmears, soups and potato pancakes are contenders for the best in town, and this is a very big town.
