218 Lafayette St (between Kenmare St & Spring St) New York NY 10012(212) 965-8777Osteria Morini graces patrons with fresh, homemade pasta in a lively environment. To start, try their octopus appetizer with polenta or the sweetbread appetizer. Both are rich and tasty. Each pasta dish is fresh and delicious. Surprisingly, the brussel sprouts are quite good as well. Osteria Morini truly is one of the better Italian restaurants in New York. -

85 10th Avenue Between 15th Street and 16th Street New York City NY 10011+1 212 497 8090Del Posto is one of those establishments that seldom get mauled in reviews and even when somebody does have a gripe it always seems to be tinged with grudging respect. Del Posto's outstanding food also represents good value for money considering the sheer quality. The lunch prix-fixe is outstanding and consists of an amuse-bouche which includes risotto balls and mortadella in delectable pastry amo ... read more > -

251 West 55th Street near Broadway New York City NY 10019+1 212 245 4555Grilled rare chicken on a stick is tame fare at Yakitori Totto, but is the featured dish; you can even order chicken sashimi. If you are not sufficiently adventurously inclined to attempt chicken which is traditionally not cooked through or freshly prepared tofu in dark miso sauce with seafood, which seems a shame, then stick to noodles and soup. Authentic sojou and sake does find tame Americans i ... read more > -

65 4th Ave (between 2nd Ave & 8th St) New York NY 10003(212) 388-0088Ippudo is a Japanese chain and the NY store is its maiden American opening. This is not a slurp and run noodle joint, it is however bustling, surprisingly modern and a large group of dining rooms. The hand-made ramen is the touted draw card, and these can be seen being made in a downstairs, windowed preparation room. While the ramen is good, the appetizers are great and I am not a great noodle fan ... read more > -
