Fans of Cantoon Garden call this Chinatown's best kept secret, with many patrons found reluctant to share its treasures. "Awesome" is one of the adjectives most regularly used, be warned, they do not accept credit cards. The restaurant features tofu clay pots, steamed fish, Peking spareribs, bok choy and the famous salt and pepper soft shell crab. Order crab "dry" to test the phantom menu and you should receive the traditional Cantonese crab cooked with ground pork and crab eggs. This is Chinatown, so expect service and décor (plastic tablecloths included) to be typical of Chinatown NY, which means the ambiance may be lacking but the food more than makes up for it.
