Everything Jean Georges (Michelin) touches is a critics' pick, so is his Central Park West restaurant. Featuring a notable chef, a notable wine list and a romantic ambiance, there is nothing in this restaurant which fails to inspire awe. My philistine tastes do not extend to sweetbreads en cocotte with ginger and licorice however. I may have enjoyed one or two oral encounters in my lifetime, but I am not about to put an animals' testicle in my mouth; no matter the romance of the ambiance or who the chef is. My aversions aside, Jean-Georges Vongerichten still steals centre stage, so prepare to be open mouthed between mouthfuls. His innovations all inspire cover shots for glossy foodie magazines, and even the simplest of dishes hint of the unexpected. The seven course tasting menu is the way to your heart.
