Privy 5 New York Caryl Chinn

Culinary Consultant, Caryl Chinn Culinary Consulting

Caryl Chinn has what many consider to be a ‘dream job.’ She has spent the last 15 years in New York City producing special events with celebrity chefs – for nearly a decade as the special events director for Bon Appétit magazine, and most recently at an agency with such illustrious clients as the Food Network, the New York Yankees and Godiva Chocolatier.  Most recently, she collaborated with Festival Founder Lee Schrager on the establishment of the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival – sister event to the wildly successful South Beach Festival.  In just 4 years, the Festival became a perennial favorite of foodies, and has raised nearly $4 million dollars for charity. Last fall, Caryl returned home to the West Coast, and Caryl Chinn Culinary Consulting was launched.  In this new endeavor, she is able to combine her broad experience in special events, marketing, public relations and promotions with her close relationships with celebrity chefs and restaurateurs from around the country.

Angels Share does more than just share with the angels it also share space with Village Yokocho. It is not a familiar NY trend to find an elegant drinks parlor with no-standing room hidden away in a Japanese restaurant. They are draconian about the no-standing room policy and parties are seated in groups of four or less. Although a customer allegedly peed on a waiter recently, don't let this put y ... read more >

This sushi hot spot is a critics pick and the latest offering from Eric and Bruce Bromberg – brother restaurateurs. It has a clubby intimate feel, and is a teak paneled, warmly lit room off the lobby of the theatre districts', Thompson Hotels’ 6 Columbus. They offer skillfully spiced sashimi, a choice of superlatively fresh sushi with a hamachi tataki which stands out from the crowd. This windowle ... read more >

Landmarc is a restaurant that because of the execution of the dishes, the wonderful atmosphere, and the delightful service, is a favorite among many native New Yorkers. At Landmarc you'll find deliciously charred steaks with a variety of sauces to choose from, daily pastas like the buttery linguine con vongole, and even plump mussels cooked in a delectable sauce. Marea means "tide' in Italian and you will struggle to find a more aptly named seafood spot, under the guiding hand of chef Michael White. He has the innate ability to combine Italian with seafood and his own special techniques. From Italy’s Adriatic coast you will find brodetto di pesce soup, you may even be lucky enough to score a new FedEx fish arrival from Greece. Marea is a seafood emporium w ... read more >
