Another of the Villages really outstanding Italian restaurants that seldom gets any bad rep, Il Mulino serves some of the most "complete", for the lack of a more descriptive term, Italian food available in NY. Dishes such as Ravioli and lamb are presented in their purest and most unsullied forms and simply make you happy to be alive. The seafood that swans out of Il Mulino's kitchens is equally me ... read more >

Babbo, oh Babbo. Where do we start! This little piece of heaven in the Village is worth anything, and I mean anything it takes to get there. The tasting menu with wine pairing on its own is the closest to heaven on earth. Babbo's service is excellent but not intrusive, the food is simply outstanding and the ambiance light and unpretentious. Among Babbo's excellent offerings are a braised oxtail gn ... read more >

A seeming contradiction, the Gotham Bar and Grill offers discerning diners, sophisticated food with mass appeal. It's not stuffy; you can feel comfortable in jeans, but you could wear a tux. They have been setting industry standards which have influenced US culinary arts for 25 years - as long as Alfred Portale; French Chef, now also shareholder, has been behind the scenes. Today there is no large ... read more >

Famous for its lobster roll and many times emulated, the new England styled Pearl Oyster Bar is the perfect pit stop for slurping down a double-cured bacon, country cream laced clam chowder, on a icy winters day. It will warm the cockles of your heart! What you really want to get at the Pearl however, is the famous lobster roll; it is twice as large as some, and for some, twice as tasty. Steamers, ... read more >

There is something about getting a falafel fix or even shawarma in pita that works extra well after a late night out on the town. Mamoun's Falafel on St. Marks place is one of the best cheap street eats spots in NYC. The falafel is exploding with flavour – moist on the inside, crunchy and golden on the outside, the pita is fresh and they offer an extensive range of Middle Eastern food. With a hot ... read more >
