Privy 5 New York Vivienne Tam

Fashion Designer

Vivienne Tam has become well known for creating beautiful clothes that appeal to all ages, ethnicities, and income levels. She has earned the reputation for offering a stylish and high-quality product while at the same time inviting the consumer to experience the inspiration behind it. A longstanding dedication to innovation and exotic imagery, Vivienne Tam is truly one of the world’s most passionate and symbolic designers in fashion today. In 1994, Vivienne Tam launched her signature collection of Eastern inspired clothing with a modern edge on the New York runways. In 1995, she introduced the influential "Mao" collection that triumphantly crossed over from the fashion world into the art world. Then in 1997 Vivienne Tam launched the venerable Buddha collection. The public and celebrities around the world quickly embraced both collections. Some of the images became so popular that scores of designers even adopted the look into their designs. Pieces of the collections were ultimately incorporated into the permanent archives of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, The Museum of FIT and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

For those who appreciate a quiet, unrushed authentic Japanese meal in a tastefully serene setting Nobu is the place. With delightful décor and a tasting menu which rates as one of the best we have come across, Nobu impresses long before the main course. Their almost legendary Black Cod is the epitome of the Japanese culinary art as is their dreamy miso soup. The Sushi and tempura is tantalizing an ... read more >

Eclectic cuisine and green friendly, the City Bakery did not sell a single piece of chicken for its first ten years of business. Meat today, still only features as 2% of their lunch business. Maury Rubin does not believe in the downright depressing salad bars which fill this city however. The signature hot chocolate is decadent and food fare is seasonally effortless; inspired by Mother Nature. He ... read more >

Eataly is a play on the country name from which this center of Italian wares and cuisine is from. Eataly is like a massive Italian marketplace under one roof. With everything from meats, cheeses, jams, and everything you look for in an ethnic grocery shop. However, Eataly is unique in that you get a proper Italian espresso machine and baristas that know how to whip up fine Italian drinks. Enjoy y ... read more >
