Dean Yao currently works at Nimbula, a cloud computing startup, where he develops technical best practices for customers. He also founded the SF Chapter of Project by Project, a national volunteer organization, and served as its President in 2009 and 2010. Previously, he worked in technical marketing at VMware. Prior to VMware, he worked on hardware research at Intel Research Labs in Oregon. Dean earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from USC, and B.S. in EECS from UC Berkeley. He is originally from Maryland, and enjoys rock climbing, traveling to remote locations, MMA, scheming, and meandering over the hills of San Francisco.
