Privy 5 Overview
Spruce is one of the best if not the best contemporary American restaurant in San Francisco. Set in a well-thought-out space that exudes contemporary sophistication, the dining room is separated from the sleek bar area by a wall of glass panels all while housed in a classic industrial feeling venue decorated with a modern touch. Spruce, like it’s name, is a restaurant that provides fresh and organic produce from local, sustainable farms. The result is delicious dishes including the golden potato gnocchi with asparagus and black trumpet mushrooms, the seared veal sweetbreads with farm egg raviolono, the grilled bavette steak with bordelaise sauce and duck-fat potatoes, the honey lacquered duck breast with foie gras, and the warm semolina cake with raspberries, honey, mint and Straus frozen cream. Each and every dish at Spruce is impressive with each expertly prepared and presented. The specialty cocktails at Spruce are also outstanding and inventive. From the Bitterberry Bramble to the Honey Elderflower Daquiri. Furthermore, the wine list at Spruce is absolutely massive and covers over 1,200 labels. Service is approachable, attentive and well acquainted with the menu and made great recommendations for food and drinks. Reservations are a must at Spruce as the popular restaurant usually is fully booked months in advance for the best dining times. For a dining experience unlike any other, Spruce is the place to be.
