DJ Lee is a freelance mentor and investor for early stage ventures in Korea and Silicon Valley. He focuses on entrepreneurship and disruptive innovation in consumer Internet and technology. He is passionate for the innovation through social enterprises, in which he participates in Social Enterprise Network, which is a partnership among nine business schools and other institutions in Korea, for providing education on social enterprise. He leads an impact investors’ club comprised of established entrepreneurs and researchers for the study and practice of impact investing, pursuing blended values of social/environmental and financial returns in business. Over 20 years, DJ Lee has worked in various business fields, including in e-commerce, investment banking and other financial services. In e-commerce for five years, he was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Gmarket (the largest e-commerce company in Korea, Nasdaq-listed) until it was acquired by eBay for US$ 1.2 billion in mid-2009. In investment banking (Citigroup, Credit Suisse and Schroders) for eight years, he has worked on cross-border M&A, corporate financing and restructuring for Korean and international clients in consumers, technology, chemicals, utilities and industrials. He holds a Master degree of Accounting and Finance at London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor degree in Business at Seoul National University.
