Beneath the unassuming façade, white curtains and some Japanese inscriptions is Hakatabunkko restaurant that serves a one of a kind ramen that everyone must have tasted at last once in their lifetime. Hakatabunkko is a humble ramen house with a very small capacity, located Hongdae near the Sangsu Station. You will find this popular ramen house in a quiet alley.  It has a counter where you can watch your ramen being prepared. There are only four tables so you have to wait for your turn outside if all the tables are already occupied. The Japanese style ramen at Hakatabunkko captured the hearts of the patrons. The broth is richly thick and flavorful. The trick in creating this broth is done by simmering the pork for hours thus making the broth tasty. The noodles are not thick and soft. You will find in your bowl a generous amount of thin noodles, the flavorful thick broth, slices of roasted pork, bean sprouts and chives. The complete the taste, they add a minced clove of garlic and some sesame seeds on top. The restaurant actually provides the diners with a garlic press to get the rich flavor of freshly pressed garlic. This Japanese style ramen has created hype in Seoul and you can only find at Hakatabunkko.
