If you want an authentic Korean dining experience fit for royalty, YongSuSan is the best place to go. This Miele Guide rated restaurant founded by Choi Sang-ok in 1980 is famous for serving Kaesong fare of the ancient Koryo Dynasty, known as the “Golden Era of Korean cuisine” but with a contemporary twist. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner courses consisting of 17 main and side dishes. For seafood-lovers, try the red and white marinated fish fillet with chili paste, garlic sauce and sesame oil, mussels served with prawn meatballs and fresh clams and grilled freshwater eel marinated in a ginger and soy sauce. If you are more into meats, their grilled marinated tender short-rib fillet is for you. One expat known to frequent YongSuSan is Anita Bidini Head Chef at Il Ponte, Millennium Seoul Hilton. Some of her favorite dishes at the restaurant are bulgogi (marinated beef dish), japchae (glass noodles mixed with vegetables and sliced meat) and bossam (kimchi wrapped in a large cabbage leaf).They can also serve food by portions on your plate instead of sharing dishes which foreigners are not accustomed to. YongSuSan has eight branches in Korea namely Taepyungno, Samecheong-dong in central Seoul, Biwon, Seocho, Cheongdam-dong in southern Seoul, Chamshil, Acrovista and Woonsan-yoido. You can go to any of their branches and expect the same excellent food and service. Closed on Korean national holidays.
