If you want a breather from the congested Shanghai environment for a while without necessarily traveling far, Barbarossa is a real nice place to go. Be transformed as you step inside this place, located within People’s Park just beside the Shanghai Art Gallery. The candlelit Barbarossa glimmers like a mirage in the middle of a small lake. It is a Moroccan-styled lounge surrounded in lush greeneries, with three floors to accommodate several functions.  The interior is a mixture of Middle Eastern-Moroccan influence, with decors overall contributing to that of Arabian Nights theme. Find relaxation as you sit on the open air terraced dining area beside the lake. Needless to say that this is a perfect place for a romantic date with your special someone. Barbarossa is both a club and a restaurant. Their drinks were known to be well above average for Shanghai while some food in their menu may need a bit of improvement. During the early evening, it’s usually a relaxed vibe, but the noise level builds up later especially on weekend evenings. Chilling out at Barbarossa will always be a good experience. From the superb ambience to the attentive staffs, this is definitely a place you wouldn’t want to forget.
