Privy 5 Overview

Share |

For a slice of "old Shanghai" you'll want to visit Yu Yuan, an open-air market, and take in the history that is represented at this age-old locale. While not far from the shops of the French Concession, Yu Yuan is a more traditional shopping experience. At first glance, it doesn't look like much until you realize how much there truly is to experience. Among the numerous opportunities to shop Chinese fare, there is a huge attraction known as Yuyuan Garden which, if you purchase a admission ticket, is a serene and beautiful place to visit. With the ponds, bridges, trees, and houses it's a nice sight if you're overwhelmed by the shopping. There are also interesting gift and souvenir shops as well as the great variety of food options here including some pretty good xiao long bao. If that doesn't suit you, there is also a large food court will likely be quite the experience with so many Chinese dishes here. With so much going on it could be easy to get lost so make sure you've got a good sense of navigation before you take on this shopping expedition.
