Privy 5 Overview
Of course it has a view, it is on the 35th floor; although it is rare that hotel restaurants change for the better, they are not all situated in the Mandarin Oriental – Asiate is! The most exciting new chef in the city - Nori Sugie shoots for the moon with star-studded talent and pioneering Asian-fusion cuisine. And in any case don't come for the view, come to chew your way through this chef's menu of wide-eyed surprises. Get this, Caesar- salad soup (sublime), shrewdly served scallops on a bed of celeriac purée, made smoky by truffles, clams with coconut and lemongrass, foie gras married with venison, lobster en cocotte, prawn in pasta with brandied shellfish sauce, roasted rib-eye côte de boeuf, pressed suckling pig, Peking-duck broth, pig-cheek confit, miso-glazed cod, and if that isn't enough for dessert there is the passion fruit mango soufflé with sticky rice ice-cream.
