Privy 5 Overview
The David Burke Townhouse features a weekend brunch and is also a celebrity spotting hot spot. David Burke - owner/chef, skewers Cajun lobster on flower holders (“crisp and angry lobster cocktail”) and infuses foie gras with kumquats. Just down the avenue from Bloomingdales, this theatrical little restaurant displays its wares like circus acts. His creations are whacky and wild as well as delectably original. New Yorkers pay high prices for meals they find stagey, and a visit to Burke's Townhouse, negates the need for after dinner theatre. He is flamboyant and of the old school, yet lovingly partakes of culinary experiments of the Willy Wonka variety. Burke invented and patented cheesecake lollipops and they just add to the already colorful restaurant.
