Privy 5 Overview
32nd Streets' HanGawi, much like its younger sister Franchai, is a Korean vegan-vegetarian shrine in another space and time, and one of the few of such restaurants where meat eaters don't feel deprived, they serve organic, locally grown vegetables which are delivered fresh every day. This is a charming "no shoes", seated cross-legged environment with traditionally garbed Zen wait-staff, Zen music, Zen ambiance and Zen fare. The Emperors Meal is a transporting delight of many minute vegetarian dishes and HanGawi, is not just about eating, it is about the tranquility that eating with a conscience can lead to. It is up-market and a novel experience for westerners, so visit in a large group, and sample as many different dishes as you have room for.
