Privy 5 Overview
Divans, mismatched chairs, fringed lamp shades and Victorian bric-a-brac are used to create a suitably "tea drinking" setting in a meticulously restored early 19th century, NYC brownstone. Lady Mendl, herself loathed this type of grand kitsch, but the weekend tea service is extremely popular, as is the lunchtime lecture, “The History, Rituals, and Artistry of Afternoon Tea”. This venue seats only 16 five course, teas sippers, so book in advance for weekends and prepare your pallet for dainty sandwiches, warm scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and raspberry jam, crepes, cakes, cookies and, chocolate coated strawberries
