Privy 5 Overview
Foreign Cinema is the definition of unassuming. You pass by Foreign Cinema several times and never realize that there exists this excellent restaurant in Mission. From the outside it looks like a plain wall but once in you will find a beautiful space with super high ceilings and concrete walls, unique light bundles and open air space between the patio and the inside. It's bright, cheerful filled with great artwork and decor. On a sunny San Francisco day, Foreign Cinema is one of the most fabulous places in the city to have brunch. Sunlight pours into the space, and even if you are dining inside, you still feel like you're out on the terrace. Bellinis are definitely in order, and although they aren't bottomless, just indulge and order 2 or 3 rounds. The famous organic fruit Pop Tarts are a must order, and they're seasonal, so make sure to try one of each. Everything on the menu is divine. If you want something savory, get the fried eggs deglazed with balsamic or poached eggs with grilled duck breast over greens. The dungeness crab croque monsieur is a huge hit and you can couple that with their famous Bloody Mary cocktail. The restaurant gets its name because they also screen movies nightly and even have a dining room where movies are projected on the walls. Foreign Cinema may be hard to find but it’s absolutely worth it.
