Privy 5 Overview
As the name signifies, Bubba’s serves juicy off the grill good food with southern American and Texan inspired flavors. The proprietor Ken Walker a.k.a. Bubba, who is a native of the city of Austin in Texas, cleverly positioned his shop in the most expat-filled part of Shanghai, right next to the Hongqiao Marriott. Get ready for a filling authentic Texan barbeque meal of succulent slow cooked meats. Have some smoked chicken wings with blue cheese or Burracho beans with jalapeno cornbread for starters. Try the smokehouse market platters and choose from beef brisket, chicken, smoked sausage, pork ribs or a combination of the different kinds of meats with a variety of tasty side dishes. Order pulled pork, slicked brisket, chopped beef or smoked German sausage sandwich. On the lighter side, home style salads are also available and they have a kiddie menu which offers pizza, grilled cheese, chicken, fries and oddly enough – a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Ice cream, peach cobbler and apple pie are choices for dessert. An extensive beer and liquor list is also offered. The decor is definitely Texan complete with saloon double doors. And, if having an all American or Texan meal at Bubba’s wasn’t memorable enough during your stay in Shanghai, you can get t-shirts, caps, a bottle of Bubba’s barbeque sauce to take you back memory lane.
