Privy 5 Los Angeles Lisa Ling
Journalist, TV Host
As the field correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and contributor to ABC News' Nightline and National Geographic's Explorer, Lisa Ling has reported from dozens of countries; covering stories about gang rape in the Congo, bride burning in India and the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda, among other issues that are too often ignored. Lisa got her start in journalism as a correspondent for Channel One News where she covered the civil war in Afghanistan at 21 years of age. She later went to become a co-host of ABC Daytime's hit show The View, which won its first daytime Emmy during her time at the show. In 2011, Lisa will have her own series on the new channel, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network called Our America with Lisa Ling. Lisa was a special correspondent for CNN's Planet in Peril series and is a contributing editor for USA Today's USA Weekend magazine. She is the co-author of "Mother, Sister. Daughter, Bride: Rituals of Womanhood," and "Somewhere Inside: One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and The Other's Fight to Bring Her Home" that she penned with her sister Laura. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the California Museum.

7953 Santa Monica Blvd. West Hollywood CA 90046(323) 656-1277Beer braised beef brisket, Carolina style pulled pork and more conventional BBQ chicken sandwiches are all available here. The pulled pork is great, but the beef brisket has a juiciness to it that can be tasted even without the many sauces they have on the menu. Chicken wings that taste like they were cooked on an open fire are a delight. Sides include creamed and fried vegetables and mac and chee ... read more > -

1633 Abbot Kinney Blvd Venice CA 90291(310) 392-6644The Tasting Kitchen on Abbot Kinney in Venice is an eclectic restaurant that looks as much as a studio housing an art collection as the eye can tell but beneath the decor is a venue that is a lot like an Italian trattoria that serves amazing pasta dishes including the can't-miss lamb ragu. However, the menu is constantly varied and that means you'll get different tasting menus and different dishes ... read more > -

465 S La Cienega Blvd SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills Los Angeles CA 90048(310) 246-5567"It’s as much a restaurant as a bar, so what better way to celebrate an entire evening (for whatever occasion) at one venue? You can enjoy traditional tapas dishes and fusion sushi and various other tasty morsels. If you prefer, you can have a sit down meal in an environment that’s as classy as a modern art gallery (a tasteful one that no one would be offended by). Drinks include cocktails that ha ... read more > -

4722 1/4 Admiralty Way Marina Del Rey CA 90292(310) 306-6300"Sushi here includes Albacore, Tuna, Salmon, Snapper, Yellowtail, and Halibut. All good, healthy and delicious. The oyster sashimi is excellent and filling. Portions are generous. The “Trust Me” (as in, most probably, “Trust me, I’m a chef”) menus are excellent and a great introduction to sushi for novices and a nice way to get a good rounded fix for sushi addicts." -
