At its core, the new 650S is a harder-edged version of the current MP4-12C coupe and convertible. Power has jumped from 616-horsepower in the 12C, to 641-horsepower in the 650S. In metric horsepower, that translates to the 650 figure used in this car’s name. Like the other McLaren cars, the same powerplant is used, a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine.
