Precision watchmakers Bell & Ross have teamed up with Shaw Harley Davidson—the current world champions in modified Harley-Davidson motorcycles—to develop a one-off custom motorcycle called the Nascafe Racer.
Shaw Harley Davidson, a leading UK dealership, approached Bell & Ross about designing a bike inspired by the watchmakers' vision for performance, precision, and engineering. The technical exactness Bell & Ross are known for was incorporated into the build of the unique motorcycle.
The Shaw Speed and Custom team mounted Bell & Ross' iconic BR 01 Carbon in a handcrafted center console using a machined section of aluminum. The positioning of the timepiece was ideal for serving its original function as a professional tool for the rider. The team utilized Andiosed blue, carbon, and stealth-like matte black custom paint to achieve a look that reflected that of the timepiece.
"We wanted to mirror the Bell & Ross timepiece wherever we could on the motorcyle and to ensure that the essential piece was never compromised by superfluous design or items," said Steve Willis, sales director and head of the Speed & Custom design wing at Shaw Harley-Davidson.
"We were immediately excited by this project," explained Bell & Ross designer and co-founder Bruno Belamich. "We identified with the values portrayed by Harley-Davidson, values that we share like the search for the extremes, adventure, and precision."
The bike pleased crowds during its debut at the American Motorcycle Dealer (AMD) World Championship round of Modified Harley-Davidson Class at the London International Custom Bike Show at Alexandra in February. It was also seen at the Dublin International Motorcycle Show and the recently completed St. Tropez Harley-Davidson Euro Festival. It will also be on display at the Custom Chrome European Show Mainz and the Bournemouth International Custom Motorcycle Show.
Bell & Ross is hopeful that this unique partnership will allow Shaw Harley-Davidson to qualify for and defend their world title in Sturgis USA in August.
